Getting Crafty at The Makers Market and Workshops in Bradenton Florida

There’s just something about making things with your hands that’s so… fulfilling! Ever since I was a little kid, my mom insisted we craft with her. We created things like popsicle stick picture frames, homemade candles, soap, tie-dye shirts, and whatever other cool ideas she came up with or found over the years. It was something I always enjoyed and as I continued to grow up, it’s something that stuck with me over the years. I even studied art in college! So, when my sister suggested we get crafty at The Makers Market and Workshops in Bradenton, Florida, I was definitely on board. Keep reading to discover why you need to visit this place!

How did we find Makers Market?

In short… We stumbled across it online. Long story… About a week ago, my sister was still trying to decide what she wanted to do for her birthday. We were talking on the phone and I suggested probably 100 different ideas. Okay, okay, I MIGHT be exaggerating a little bit. But I did suggest quite a few ideas.

Anyway, none of them sounded right so we started scouring Facebook and Google for things to do. Eventually, we started looking for classes along the lines of Painting with A Twist and pottery making. We found several DIY crafting places including Makers Market.

How does it work?

Go to their website and look at the various crafts you can complete. They’ve got all sorts of signs, trays, and more. I settled on a bottle opener, my sister chose to paint a pillow, and her boyfriend opted to build a sign. You select which date you’d like to sign up for a class, choose your objects ahead of time (there’s a $10 fee to pick day-of), and then pay.

The Day of your class, you show up about 10-15 minutes early so that you can get set up at your station. You have roughly 2 hours to complete your project and I can tell you that most projects need the full 2 hours. Mine was a little less, but only because it was one of the smallest crafts. So make sure to pick your paints and get started pretty quickly or you'll run out of time!

How much does it cost?

The pricing wasn’t too shabby. You can find projects anywhere from $30-$100. As I mentioned above, you can pay ahead of time to save a bit more money and so that you don’t have to deal with checking out at the end. Personally, I loved that! It made it feel more like an event rather than a transaction.

Other information?

This is a super fun way to spend an afternoon! However, I will say that if you want 100% creative freedom, this might not be the class for you. This is more of a create by numbers project. Everything is setup so that you follow the instructions and build something beautiful. You do get to choose the paints and stains that you want, but if you want something 100% custom, you’ll want to make something at home.

Would I go to Makers Market again?

Absolutely! Not only do you get to get your hands dirty, but the people working the classes are kind and helpful. Plus, you can bring your own snacks and drinks. Besides, check out how awesome our projects turned out!

Now that you know what The Makers Market and Workshops in Bradenton, Florida is, it’s up to you to decide if it’s something you’d like to do.
